Eye Movement Densitization

and Reprocessing (EMDR)

A gentle, evidence based approach to healing from trauma and emotional wounds

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a structured, evidence-based therapy developed to help people heal from the emotional impact of difficult or traumatic experiences. Sometimes, even when an event is long in the past, the body and mind can continue to react as if the danger is still present. EMDR helps the brain “unstick” these memories so they can be processed in a healthier, more adaptive way.

During EMDR, you’ll be guided through a series of gentle, rhythmic eye movements or other forms of bilateral stimulation (such as tapping or audio tones). These movements help the brain reprocess memories that may be causing distress, anxiety, or patterns you feel stuck in.

EMDR does not require you to go into graphic detail or talk at length about the experience. Instead, it focuses on supporting your natural ability to heal. Many people find that, over time, the memories feel less charged, emotional triggers become more manageable, and they are better able to respond to situations with clarity and confidence.

EMDR can be effective for:
• Trauma and PTSD
• Anxiety and panic
• Grief and loss
• Phobias
• Stress-related symptoms
• Negative core beliefs (“I’m not enough,” “I’m unsafe,” etc.)
• Relationship patterns and emotional triggers

The goal of EMDR is not to erase memories, but to help you feel more grounded in the present rather than pulled back into the past. Clients often describe feeling lighter, more resilient, and more in control of their emotional world.
